Transition Assistance Program Tracks

In addition to the Transition Workshop Core Curriculum, you may also choose to attend one of three optional Transition Assistance Program Tracks.  The track you will attend will be determined by your personal goals.

The four tracks are:

  • Department of Labor Employment Workshop (DOLEW) – 2 day                           This workshop is in conjunction and addition to the Transition Workshop.  This course assist with career search, resume writing, job search, job application process and interview skills.

 

  • Education  – Accessing Higher Education – 2 days                                                        This workshop will help you prepare for college life and assist you with the following: researching schools, completing a college application, financial assistance, risks associated with incurring debt to finance educational goals, transferring credits, gaining college credit for military training or experience, and realities of campus life.

 

  • Department of Labor Vocational Track  – 2 dayThis two-day workshop will help you prepare for college life and assist you with the following: researching schools, completing a college application, financial assistance, risks associated with incurring debt to finance educational goals, transferring credits, gaining college credit for military training or experience, and realities of campus life.
    • The workshop is designed to assist you in:
      • Defining technical career goals
      • Identifying required credentials
      • Finding career technical training opportunities
      • Identifying local Veteran resources
      • Utilizing your VA education benefit

 

  • Entrepreneurship – Starting Your Own Business – 2 days
    • You will learn if starting a business is right for you, if your business idea is feasible and much more!
    • After the workshop you will have created a Feasibility Analysis Deliverable that will serve as the basis for future business planning efforts. It is designed to assist you in developing an ‘actionable’ plan for subsequent efforts focused on launching a new venture.
    • The workshop is open to transitioning service members, veterans, or spouses interested in starting a business.
    • The Boots to Business workshop is offered in collaboration among the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University (IVMF), the DoD and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
