Wounded Warrior Program

Air Force Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) was developed to ensure Airmen disabled as a result of service in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom receives appropriate transitional support. Enhanced transition assistance services include one-on-one pre-separation counseling, one-on-one VA benefits and DTAP Counseling, and personal assistance in completing and submitting a VA disability claim.

Visit the Air Force Wounded Warrior web site and download their monthly bulletin.

If you have been identified as a Air Force Wounded Warrior and you are just beginning the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) it is suggested that you schedule a one-on-one Pre-Separation Counseling Briefing. The briefing, and it’s documentation on a DD Form 2648, notes that you received the congressionally mandated briefing, but does not lock you into separating or retiring. The information that you recieve will benefit you in the long run, even if you don’t leave the Air Force.
