Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) Annuities Now Payable to Special-Needs Trusts
Retirees now have the option of having Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) annuity payments go directly into a special needs trust for a disabled child according to changes to the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2015. This special-needs trust statute only applies to a disabled dependent child, not to disabled spouses.
