The goal of Transition Assistance Program (TAP) is to equip separating and retiring military and civilian personnel and their families with the skills and knowledge necessary for a smooth, successful transition into the private sector. The emphasis of the program is on preparation rather than job placement. The program is co-sponsored by the Department of Defense, Department of Labor, and Department of Veterans Affairs.
